It was touted as the final battle for supremacy (bordering more on prestige!) between King Khan and Perfectionist Khan. Yes, we are talking about the National film Awards 2007, where SRK was nominated for CHAK DE! INDIA and Aamir Khan for TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, in the best actor category.
However, its it is neither Shah Rukh Khan nor Aamir Khan, but the WANTED villain (Ghani Bhai), the Tamil actor, Prakash Raj, who walked away with the best actor award for 2007 in Priyadarshan's Tamil film KANCHIVARAM, which was also chosen as the best movie, at the 55th National Film Awards, that were announced yesterday in New Delhi.
As far as Bollywood is concerned, the notable winners included actor Darshan Zariwala, who won the best supporting actor award for his role in Feroz Abbas Khan's film GANDHI-MY FATHER, while ''Maa'', the soul-stirring song from Aamir Khan's directorial debut TAARE ZAMEEN PAR has won lyricist Prasoon Joshi his first National award.
The jury members for the National Awards, headed by Sai Paranjpe, included Ashok Viswanathan and Namita Gokhale. About 102 films and 106 non-feature films were considered.
